— Longtime City Hall hand Carlos Ponce was named interim CEO at the Chicago Housing Authority Friday.

A search is still underway to permanently replace Lewis Jordan, who resigned his approximately $200,000 CEO post in mid-June after his alleged misuse of CHA credit cards came to light.

Mr. Ponce, 61, is a former chief of staff at the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, which runs McCormick Place; previously served as CEO of Resonance Management and Technology Solutions Inc, a Chicago-based management consulting firm, and was chief human resources officer at the Chicago Public Schools.

He also served four years as commissioner of Chicago’s Department of General Services, as well as executive director of the Hispanic American Construction Industry Assn.

He has served as a commissioner of CHA since 2003, and resigned upon his appointment to his new position. Mr. Ponce’s salary as interim CEO is still being negotiated, a CHA spokeswoman said.
